  1. Scroll down to Browse by Location located under the search boxes.

  2. Click on USA, Canada, and Mexico.

  3. Scroll down to United States Census.

  4. Click a census year of interest.

  5. Type the first name of your ancestor in the First Names box.

  6. Type the last name of your ancestor in the Last Name box.

  7. If you know the county where your ancestor resided, type the name of the county and the state abbreviation (e.g., "Mercer County, OH" "Orange County, NC") in the Place box.

  8. Click the Search button.

  9. Review your results.

  10. Click a result of interest.

  11. Review the details about the individual.

  12. To view the actual census image (available for some census records), click View Image to the left of the name of interest.

  13. Move the Zoom adjustor to increase or decrease the size of the image.

  14. Click and drag on the image to navigate to the entries of interest.
