In addition to military and
patriotic service, the DAR and SAR also accept civil service for
establishing an ancestor as a Revolutionary War patriot.
Many men in
Maine served in some type of civil
capacity during the American Revolution. Lists of town
officials from 1775-1783 for some Maine towns are available
online in various sources.
