Prospective
members are invited to attend our Genealogy Workshops
to receive assistance in preparing an SAR membership
application.

To
begin researching your family history, prepare ancestor
charts about your ancestors. Record the names and
approximate birth dates, marriage dates, and death dates. Be
sure to include the location (city, county, and state) for
each event. Collect birth, marriage, and death certificates
and obituaries. Look for family bibles and diaries. This
free
tutorial on researching your Revolutionary War patriot
ancestor provides helpful
information on finding and documenting a Revolutionary patriot
in your family tree.
When attending the workshop,
bring your completed charts and all other information that
will help in plotting your family history and finding your
American Revolutionary Patriots.
If you already know your
direct line of descent from a Revolutionary Patriot, review
and complete the
SAR
application worksheet. If
you have a relative who is a current or former SAR or DAR
member, please bring his/her application papers if possible.
If you do not have them, we will be happy to assist you in
obtaining them if you know the SAR or DAR member's national
number. |
