The
present Fort Lauderdale Chapter of
the Sons of the American Revolution was formed on December 8,
1966. At that time, it was the 15th chapter in the state
of Florida.
We welcome any
man for membership who is over 18 years of age
and who is descended from a person who aided in achieving
American Independence during the period between April 19, 1775, and
November 26, 1783. For more specific information about
eligibility requirements, please review the NSSAR brochure
on the
Requirements for Membership.
The main objectives of our chapter are to
perpetuate the memory
and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence,
and to honor, preserve, and extend American history, education,
and patriotism. We participate in a variety of educational and
patriotic activities such as oration and essay contests,
community events, and flag displays. We also present
medals and awards to outstanding Jr. ROTC members and Eagle
Scouts. Our meetings are held on the
fourth Saturday of the month. Please
contact us if you would like to attend. |
