Objectives

 

The National Society Sons of the American Revolution seeks to maintain and extend:

 

     *  the institutions of American freedom
     *  an appreciation for true patriotism
     *  a respect for our national symbols
     *  the value of American citizenship
     *  the unifying force of e pluribus unum that has created, from the people of many

        nations, one nation and one people.

 

Our chapter contributes to this effort through a number of projects and activities.

 

ROTC Medals

Our chapter awards ROTC medals to outstanding student cadets in secondary school ROTC programs of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.

 

Eagle Scout Program

We also recognize young men in our community who achieve the level of Eagle Scout through our Eagle Scout certificate program.

 

Good Citizenship Medal

Our chapter honors local adults and youths who have demonstrated noteworthy service and achievement within their schools or communities with the SAR Good Citizenship Medal.

 

Rumbaugh Oration Contest

We support the Rumbaugh Oration Contest which was endowed by a member of our chapter, Joseph S. Rumbaugh.  Ted Duay, our President, served as the Florida Committee Chairman for the Florida State contest in 2006.

 

Historical Presentations and Seminars

We sponsor a number of historical presentations and seminars covering such topics as the Mayflower Pilgrims, Naval Sea Cadets, Revolutionary War, World War II, and Korean War. 

 

Genealogy Workshops

We offer several genealogy workshops each year in Broward County for prospective members and interested members of the public.  For more information about these workshops, click here.

 

Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.)

We support our local C.A.R. Chapter.
