Slightly larger than AltaVista in size at 625 million pages, All the Web/FAST Search supports implied Boolean logic (+/-) and phrase searching on the Basic Search page.

The Advanced Search page also offers title, domain, host, URL and link searches. Unlike AltaVista which displays a maximum of 10 results per page, All the Web's Advanced Page will return 10, 25, 50, 75, or 100 results at once.

Because ALL THE WEB does NOT support frames, the tutorial is designed differently for this section. To practice the steps listed below, go to the All THE WEB site.

To practice Implied Boolean (+/-) searching, follow these instructions:

  1. Use + (plus) and - (minus) to find recipes for chocolate cake but not german chocolate cake.

  2. Click the SEARCH button.

  3. Scroll down and review the results. Click any links of interest.

  4. Scroll down toward the bottom of the page. Click on 11-20 (below the last result) for the next set of results.
