  1. Verify that you are in the Descendants Database Search.

  2. Type the last name of your great-grandfather or your great-great-grandfather in the Last Name box.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: The husband's last name, rather than the wife's last name, MUST be listed in the top field. If you list the wife's last name in the top field rather than her husband's last name, you will get zero results even if your ancestors are listed in the database.

  3. Type the MAIDEN name of his wife in the Spouse - Last Name box.

    NOTE: You may include the first names of the husband and wife in their respective boxes. However, if you spell their first names differently than what is listed in the database, you will get zero results even if they are listed in the database. The safest approach is to search only by the last name of the husband and the maiden name of his wife.

  4. Click the Search button.

  5. Review your results. Twenty-five results appear at a time.

  6. Click the ancestor chart icon to the right of a result of interest.

  7. Review the lineage.
